More Prairie Fall

I'm not talkative this morning, so I'll just post some photos from Sunday.  It was such a pretty day.

Ack!!! I Am Totally Wrong

My American Bittern post of awhile ago ... well, not a bittern at all.  Juvenile Black-crowned Night-Heron!  Thanks for the correction, Guy.

I've adjusted that post a little - like took out the bittern stuff.

American Bittern - er, NOT

 American Bittern  Botaurus lentiginosus

CORRECTION:  Black-crowned Night-Heron, juvenile.

This is a juvenile bird as it lacks the black streak on the sides of its neck.  I flushed out 11 young bitterns BC Night-Herons at Last Mountain Lake late Thursday afternoon.
