Bald Eagle

Just because I saw an adult Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) flying yesterday.

We have 4-6 Baldies in this area.  The ice-free water at Boundary Reservoir ensures a year-round diet of Canada Goose and Mallard, not to mention all the Ring-necked Pheasants, Sharp-tailed Grouse and rabbits.  Actually, I am surprised there aren't more of these majestic birds around here.

  1. I never ever get tired of these magnificent creatures.... even though in my county, which has no lakes, they are mainly winter scavengers. :)
