Estevan Flood - June 20

A photo of the valley.  This is looking west - that's #18 with #47 at the bottom in front of SRI.

Photo courtesy of Barry Dies, thanks!

And the rain is pouring down again as I type this.

  1. That's pretty to close to the view from our Hillcrest backyard when I was growing up. I'm old enough to remember the 1969 flood, and being so amazed with how the lagoons turned into an inland sea, and how the river crept all the way around that bluff down near the old swimming pool. We had two inches of water on our rumpus room floor and had to wear rubber boots to change channels on our TV, to avoid getting shocks. (Talk about another era.)

Needless to add, that flood has been absolutely dwarfed by this one. The images are mind-blowing.

  2. Thanks for commenting, Michael. Yes, it is quite incredible around here at the moment. The old swimming pool location is under a couple feet of water. The stunning part for me is the water running over the highways. #47 just north of Benson; #39 west of Macoun; #18 south of the city.
