  3. Thanks, both Brenda and Brian. This area around Estevan is not a pretty part of the prairies. The entire place has been scarred by strip mining (land reclamation only started about 8-9 years ago). So there are unnatural piles of overburden and deep open pits, most of this has developed into some unique wildlife habitat. All is basically inaccessible to the public. It's an area where one has to keep one's mind open to alternative concepts of beauty much of the time. Fresh light snow and thick hoar frost, though, turns the place into a state of loveliness. It makes the intense cold bearable.
