In an attempt to yank my mind away from the snow currently falling.....
I went to Costa Rica in March of 2008 (I did a lot of travelling in 2008). It was my second trip to the country. The first was a general nature trip (and I will dig up some photos of that trip soon). This trip was specifically for birding.
A wet trail at Carara Nat'l Park. Carara is one of the jewels of the country.
Boat-billed Heron (Cochlearius cochlearius) - peculiar looking bird, isn't it. Also at Carara
A huge tree limb covered in bromeliads and 5-6 White Ibis, at Villa Lapas near Carara. We stopped in to Villa Lapas for lunch on my first trip and I swore I would return and stay at this place. So I did.
A digiscoped close-up of one of the White Ibis (Eudocimus albus) in the tree. To give some sort of scale to the size of this tree limb, ibis are about 2 feet tall.

Looks amazing! I'd love to go there.
ReplyDeleteBrenda, you absolutely must go to Costa Rica at some point in life. Seriously, if you only ever go to one exotic rain-forest, super birding place, choose Costa Rica.
