A small creature is rustling around in the grass near a slough...
Oops, I scared it. It jumped into the water. A short while later...it's back...poking around in the grass
I see an eye and a little nose...
Yessir, one of my favourite little critters - The Common Muskrat (Ondatra zibethicus)
I think it was looking for some fresh green shoots to munch on. It has been a very long winter for these little guys, too.
