Spring IS In The Air

In spite of the snitty blast of Winter this past weekend, Spring IS in the air.

The Saskatchewan motto is

referring to the millions of migrating birds that arrive here or fly over en route to the Arctic and their return trip in the Fall.

The Snow Geese  (Chen caerulescens) are arriving in huge flocks, several thousand birds in each flock.

And with them are Bald Eagles  (Haliaeetus leucocephalus), most of which perch in far away trees watching the geese

and on distant fence posts (this one was watching a mixed flock of ducks)

but, in every case the past few days, way beyond the range of my camera lens.  Oh well...

  1. Those snow geese migrations are unbelievable. I was once on my way through Nebraska when literatly a river of must have been millions passed over. I could see it from horizon to horizon.
